Cover My Plate wants everyone to be able to shop our site and design their own plate, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology.

Our goal

We aim for covermyplate.com to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We test our pages and design tools with automated checks and by hand, and we fix problems as we find them.

What we've done

  • Text descriptions (alt text) on product and site images
  • Labeled form fields and buttons
  • A visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link for keyboard users
  • Moving content that stops when your device is set to reduce motion
  • Design tools with screen-reader labels, and arrow keys to move the item you've selected

Known limits

Our plate, frame and keychain builders are visual design tools. Some steps, like dragging or resizing a logo, may be hard to do without a mouse or touchscreen. If any part of a builder doesn't work for you, email us your logo, text or idea and we'll lay out the design for you at no extra charge. You'll still get a free proof to approve before anything prints.

Checkout is provided by Shopify, which publishes its own accessibility information.
